Home Learning Week 13
6.07.20 – 10.7.20
Hello everyone,
Just a few reminders about transition days. Year 2s will be in on Monday 13th July and Year 3's will be in on Tuesday 14th July. You will spend the day with me (I am SO excited ), meet your new teacher and have a fun day including a socially distanced sports day. You will be dropped off and picked up from the hall. Children will need to wear sports clothes with a hat and coat and bring a waterbottle/lunch (school dinners are available).
Mrs Alford will be doing her last phonecalls next week and you will be seeing me on the transition days so if you have any worries or questions then you can talk to either of us or e-mail school. You can also continue to e-mail in home learning and any questions you may have to deputy@southmoltonprimary.devon.sch.uk.
If the Oak Academy lessons https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule and the bbc videos-https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p089nk5f are enough for you then please continue using these. If you have more time and want some variety then please use the resources below. Remember there is no right way to do home learning- please use what works for you and your child.
Have a great week, keep smiling and I look forward to seeing lots of you next week!!!

GET INVOLVED IN THE #DEVON VIRTUAL GAMES: The 4th (Boccia Sock-ia) & 5th Event (Creative Challenge) is now live & well done to Jonathan W for achieving the Gold Award in Event 1!
This is an opportunity for all our children (Reception up to Year 6) to participate in the Devon Virtual Games. There is going to be 6 active events in all, but you enter them individually with support from your family and so can choose which ones you want/can do.
With each event there are certificates, medals and awards and the school with the highest percentage of pupils taking part will also win a prize - so get your friends involved!
The first event was called 'Walk, Jog, Run Devon' but this event has now closed for entries.
We would like to congratulate Jonathan W in Year 2 for achieving the Gold Award by walking, jogging or running 40 miles - a big well done and you will be receiving your certificate in the post along with being entered into the prize draw to win a £25 Amazon voucher.
The second event was called 'Pentathlon' and children have until Sunday 21st June 2020 to complete 5 athletics events which you can do at home and they are; Shuttle Run, Standing Long Jump, Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce and Target Throw.
The third event was called 'Dance' and children have until Sunday 28th June 2020 to create your own dance routine to the song ‘Blinding Lights’ by The Weekend. Your routine will have to be no longer than 1 minute in duration, but you can use any style of dance you like. If there are adequate entries and permissions allow, all the clips will be edited to create a dance video routine to thank all key workers for their hard work.
The fourth (Boccia Sock-ia) and fifth (Creative Challenge) events are now live and children have until Sunday 5th July 2020 to enter. Sock-ia is the same as boccia however you use socks instead of boccia balls. This game can be played individually or with other family members in your household. The 5th challenge is about creating a 7th Spirit of the Games Value for Devon and explain its meaning. You then create your logo & send a photo of what it will look like.
To access all the details go to: https://www.activedevon.org/find-the-devonvirtualgames and click on Event 4 or 5.
Message from Miss Tuach- Good luck everybody and I would love to hear from those that are taking on the challenges and if you have any photos of you participating in Boccia-Sockia or your Creative value then send them to the usual e-mail: deputy@southmoltonprimary.devon.sch.uk for us to share on the 'Home Learning Heroes' page.

On Friday afternoon, we’d love for everyone to join in with the Nation’s Toast to the heroes who sacrificed so much to secure the freedom we have today. At 3pm, stand and raise a glass or cup of refreshment of your choice and make the toast: “For those that gave so much, we thank you.”

Home Learning- Week 1
Hello Farley class ,
I hope you’re all happy and smiling, being good for your parents and completing lots of home learning. Please continue to complete some reading, writing, maths and physical activity every day. You don’t have to spend a long time on each activity, little and often is better! There is a wide range of home learning that is accessible through the parents page on our website. You can access your google drive from home using your log in if you would like to use Slides or Docs. Year 2/3 do not have access to Google Classroom, however you are welcome to create documents as part of your home learning if you wish. It will be fantastic to see all of your AMAZING work when we return. Please make sure you fit in some fun activities too- there are lots of great art and science activities suggested on the website for you to explore.
Please make sure you have a break during the Easter holidays and try and have some fun at home- try and do your daily exercise in the sunshine (safely) as much as you can . It must be very strange for you not being at school- I’m finding it very strange not seeing your smiley faces every day! I will be ringing you all after the Easter holidays to find out what you have been up to- keep smiling and working hard!
Take care,
Miss Shinn
