Friday 2nd July

We have had a fantastic art week. We have explored colour mixing, created tints and shades, found out about different artists and visited our school art gallery!

Thursday 24th June

The children have had a fantastic time this week experimenting to see how much cargo a boat can carry, what shapes float most successfully and creating their own pirate ships that they then tested on the pond. We also finished our forest school session with a story around the pond.

Thursday 10th June

This week Lyn Class was invaded by Captain Blackbeard! This inspired the children to create some fantastic ‘Wanted’ posters offering a reward for his capture. They have also created some detailed drawings of Captain Blackbeard’s ship, The Queen Anne’s Revenge. This afternoon children used the resources available in our Forest School area to create their own pirate ships.

We have come to the end of a very ‘different’ spring term. We have been blessed this week with lovely weather so we have made the most of being outside. Enjoy looking at our PE photos and the photos that show when the chickens were finally allowed out after their own ‘lockdown’. Have a fantastic Easter break!

Friday 26th March

British Science Week

We have had a fabulous British Science Week. We have made electrical circuits which included a motor and a switch. This was then attached to a brush to make a Moving Brush Monster! We had great fun when we raced the Brush Monsters in the hall. We also enjoyed watching a live science lesson which involved lots of explosions!!! The highlight of the week was when we watched a live lesson and saw a chick hatching out of an egg. We also thought about scientists and drew a picture to show what a scientist looks like. We had great fun in Outdoor Adventure Time planting seeds for our raised vegetable bed.

It has been a very busy and exciting week in Lyn Class. We have eaten our Christmas dinner and received a present from Father Christmas! On Thursday, we were able to light our own small fires in our Outdoor Learning Time, which was amazing!!!

Friday 11th December

This week we have enjoyed designing and making our own alien masks. We will use our masks for our alien dances and to create characters for our alien stories which we will write next week.

Friday 4th December

This week we enjoyed making rockets from different materials. We have predicted which materials will fly the furthest. Next week, we are going to test our rockets to see if our predictions are correct.

Friday 27th November

This week we have been busy continuing to learn about the Moon. We had great fun in our drama session where we pretended to be astronauts walking on the Moon. On Thursday, we learnt how to control Beebot the floor robot. We were able to program a route for Beebot to follow.

Friday 20th November

We had such a fun time in Lyn Class when we designed and made rockets for our aliens. We also thought about what we could teach our aliens about planet Earth. We collected some everyday objects and discussed the materials they are made from. We thought about how we could describe the properties of the materials as part of our science learning.

Friday 13th November

This week we had great fun creating our aliens. We used clay to make the bodies and added lots of different craft materials for decorations. Our aliens are going to feature in our own stories.

Friday 6th November

This week the children enjoyed watching a video of a 'space object' landing in our school pond area. In our Outdoor Adventure Time the children explored the area to look for clues as to what had landed!!!!! Below is a link to the video and photos of our exploration.

Thursday 22nd October

We have had an enjoyable last week to the half term. We have completed our double-page spreads on magpies which was our last activity linked to our English area of learning. Using the Chrome Books, we have learnt how to insert images and text into a Google slide and produced a presentation about our learning during our topic, 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures'. When we return after the half term holiday, we will begin our new topic 'Moon Zoom.'

Friday 16th October

This week we have enjoyed finding out about magpies as part of our English lessons. We completed research on the Chrome books and wrote about the interesting facts. On Thursday, we enjoyed a walk during our Outdoor Adventure Time in the beautiful autumn sunshine.
